22 June 2009 - The team representative of the Brazilian Confederation continued its dominance at the XLVI edition of the South American Championships that ended in Lima on June 21. Brazil topped the medal table with 16 gold, 20 silver and 17 bronze, and collected 446 points in the general classification (204 men; 242 women). Brazil finished ahead of Colombia which collected 275 points (98; 177), and Argentina which had 138.5 (88.5; 50).
21 June 2009 – Lima, Peru - Brazilian Elisângela Adriano produced the best performance of the second day of competition of the XLVI South American Championships in Lima on Saturday 20 June, by winning the Discus with a season’s best of 61.00m.
20 June 2009 – Lima, Peru - Brazilian pole vaulter Fabiana Murer produced the best performance of Day 1 of the 46th South American Championships that commenced in Lima on 19 June at the track of the “Villa Deportiva Nacional”. The event ends on Sunday (21).
